and so I thought it better to move the files now.

Dear colleagues,

After a lengthy period of negotiation with the central web team, faculty=20
staff has come to an agreement whereby individual WordPress websites=20
will be provided for Maths and Stats academic staff.

The first couple of sites have been created - for Howard Bondell=20
 and Paul Zinn-Justin=20
, at their request (note=20
that parts of both are still under development). A couple more sites are=20
in the pipeline too. Initial feedback of usability of the sites is positive=

Some advertised advantages to using one of the new-style sites are:

  * The site is easily maintained, using a user-friendly admin interface
    that=92s accessible from anywhere.
  * The site will be fully supported by Science web and the central web
  * =A0The standard templates are consistent with other up-to-date
websites across the Unimelb web ecosystem.
  * The standard templates used in the site perform well on a range of
screen sizes and in all common browsers.
  * Hosting, Wordpress updates and domain name are administered centrally.
  * There=92s less risk of security vulnerabilities, because the sites use
    an up-to-date, centrally administered platform.
  * The site will perform well in Google, because it=92s mobile-friendly,
properly configured for SEO, and sits on a domain.

Catherine Hunt from the Faculty web team will be in touch with staff to=20
set up individual webpages.

Best regards,
