I am a Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne, where I have been working ever since the completion of my PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2000.

Research Interests

My research interests encompass both pure and applied aspects of Discrete Mathematics, including various topics in Graph Theory, Algebraic Graph Theory, Combinatorial Optimization and Theoretical Computer Science.

Awards and Fellowships

Future Fellowship, Australian Research Council (ARC), 2012-2015
Kirkman Medal, Institute of Combinatorics and Its Applications, 2003
Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship (currently known as DECRA), ARC, 2003
Distinction for PhD Thesis, The University of Western Australia, 2001

Professional Services

I had the privilege of serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Australasian J. Combinatorics from February 2018 to March 2022. I have been on the Editorial Board of this journal since 2018.

I am an Editor of J. Algebraic Combinatorics (Springer), Graphs and Combinatorics (Springer), Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (Springer) and J. Interconnection Networks (World Scientific).

I am a co-Guest Editor for a special issue of Discrete Appl. Math. (Elsevier) to be published in 2024. I was a co-Guest Editor for two other special issues published in J. Interconnection Networks (2017) and Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (2016), respectively.

I served as the President of the Combinatorial Mathematics Society of Australasia in 2017 and the Vice President of this organisation from 2014 to 2016.

I have served on the organising or program committee for more than thirty conferences and workshops, including as Chair of the Organising Committee for the 43rd Australasian Combinatorics Conference (43ACC, Melbourne, 13-17/12/2021) and the 7th International Workshop on Optimal Network Topologies (IWONT 2016, Tsinghua-Sanya International Mathematics Forum, China, 11-15/07/16).

Discrete Structures and Algorithms

With Charl J. Ras and Binzhou Xia we coordinate the Discrete Structures and Algorithms seminar and reading group meeting. Everyone is welcome to subscribe to the announcements for these events. If you would like to give a presentation in our DSA seminar, you are welcome to contact me.
